No convictions in big marijuana bust in NDDICKINSON, N.D. (AP) — One of two Lithuanian men accused of possessing 50 pounds of marijuana in North Dakota has been found not guilty, while the other has voluntarily left the country.
The Dickinson Press reports that a jury acquitted Arturas Teras after less than an hour of deliberation on Thursday afternoon.
Donatas Jasiulionis was to stand trial with Teras. His attorney says he returned to his home country and faces immediate arrest if he ever returns to the U.S. Stark County State's Attorney Tom Henning says it's unlikely authorities will try to extradite him.
The two men were arrested in November 2009. Authorities alleged they were en route from Washington state to Chicago with the drugs when they were stopped for speeding in southwest North Dakota.
