Snowmobiler hurt in crash on Bois de Sioux RiverBRECKENRDIGE, Minn. – Authorities say alcohol may have been a factor in a crash involving a snowmobiler who was reported missing and eventually found on the Bois de Sioux River.
The Wilkin County Sheriff’s Office received a call at 10:34 p.m. Wednesday that a snowmobiler had left his home in Breckenridge and hadn’t returned for two to three hours, Sheriff Rick Fiedler stated in a news release.
The man reportedly had gone south on the river, so the sheriff’s office and state Department of Natural Resources searched the river with a snowmobile and four-wheeler.
They found the man at 12:03 a.m. about three-quarters of a mile south of Breckenridge on the river.
The man was taken by ambulance to a Breckenridge hospital and later transferred to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo. The nature of his injuries wasn’t released.
The crash remains under investigation.
