SDSU, USD to resume football rivalrySIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The University of South Dakota and South Dakota State football teams will renew a century-old rivalry on the gridiron on Nov. 17 in Brookings.
Both schools have posted their 2012 schedules. Their game against one another will rekindle the rivalry that was interrupted in 2003 when SDSU made the jump from NCAA Division II to Division I. USD has since followed suit. The two schools’ men's basketball teams met earlier this month for the first time in eight years.
The SDSU football team next season also will play Kansas, a Football Bowl Subdivision school, and defending Football Championship Subdivision champion North Dakota State.
South Dakota also will play NDSU, and FBS school Northwestern.
