Truck of Moorhead man falls through ice on Big CormorantDETROIT LAKES, Minn. – Becker County authorities are advising against motor traffic on area lakes after a truck broke through a lake southwest of here on Monday evening, Sheriff Tim Gordon said in a news release.
Gordon said in the release that Mark Alan Brossart of Moorhead was on Big Cormorant Lake when his truck broke through the ice and became partially submerged.
After they had gotten safely to shore, Brossart’s passenger, Jason James Cihak, ignored a deputy’s warnings and tried to get back to the truck. Cihak then fell through the ice, but was able to get out with the help of the deputy. He was treated for submersion up to his chest area.
Becker County authorities have since closed public accesses on Big Cormorant Lake, Gordon said.
