West Acres’ Abercrombie & Fitch, PacSun stores to close
FARGO – Abercrombie & Fitch and PacSun will shut their doors at the end of January in West Acres Shopping Center.
But the mall already has two replacements lined up, according to a news release sent out Monday evening.
West Acres will announce the names of the new retailers once contracts are completed via the mall’s Facebook page.
“We are grateful to both Abercrombie & Fitch and PacSun for their time at West Acres,” said Alissa Sorum, the mall’s marketing director.
As for the identity of the new stores, Sorum said the deals are “essentially done, but we don’t have them quite signed and sealed yet.” Sorum said she expects the announcement to come within the next month.
Sorum referred questions Monday night about why the teen-clothing stores were closing and whether they had fulfilled their contracts with West Acres to the corporate offices for Abercrombie and PacSun.
West Acres announced Abercrombie’s opening in 2000, the same time the mall was about to undergo a major renovation.
Managers at both Abercrombie and PacSun referred questions to corporate headquarters. Messages left at those offices Monday evening weren’t immediately returned.
“With their departures, we will have the capacity to meet the space requirements for two sought-after national retailers,” Sorum said in a news release. “We have fielded continuous requests for these merchants by our customers, so we are very excited about the opportunity to deepen our retailer selection.”
The Buckle, a longtime West Acres clothing store, will relocate into Abercrombie’s storefront. Construction starts in early spring, and The Buckle will stay open in its current location until the new spot is refitted, likely in June.
