Wahpeton man appears in court in stabbingWAHPETON, N.D. – A 24-year-old Wahpeton man charged with attempted murder in the stabbing of a neighbor made his first court appearance Thursday after being ruled mentally fit to stand trial.
Authorities say Patrick Wolfgram stabbed 26-year-old Trista Martin several times in the head, neck and back on Oct. 14.
Wolfgram underwent a mental evaluation in November to determine whether he had the capacity to understand the harmful nature of his alleged actions.
On Thursday in Richland County Court, Wolfgram waived his right to a preliminary hearing. His next court appearance is scheduled at 9 a.m. Feb. 7.
A spaghetti dinner and silent auction benefit for Martin, who is recovering from the attack, is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Feb. 3 at the Eagles Club in Wahpeton. Entertainment by Boomtown will follow from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
Donations for Martin’s medical expenses can be made to the Trista Martin Benefit Fund at any Gate City Bank.
