Weekend Watch: Post-Traumatic Funk Syndrome and 2nd Sunday Singer Songwriter Showcase
Local acts are making big first steps forward in the new year with shows at the HoDo Lounge, 101 Broadway. Actually, it’s one big band and a few solo acts.
Post-Traumatic Funk Syndrome rings in the new year a week later, but in perfect time. The horn-heavy funk and R&B group storms the HoDo Lounge, 101 Broadway, tonight for its first full-blown set of 2012. The 13-piece group will blow through ’70s nuggets by Chicago, Kool & the Gang, the Blues Brothers, Blood Sweat and Tears and more. The groove gets laid down at 8 p.m. There is a $3 cover.
The volume may be a bit lower on Sunday night, but the energy will be equal when a steady stream of local singer/songwriters play the room Sunday night. Singer/guitarists Brooks West, Bill Lempe, Michael Pink, Tom Peckscamp and Pat Lenertz will pick their way through a mix of originals and favorite covers. There is no cover for this show. (701) 478-1000.
