Sad to learn of Schaible’s deathI was sad and surprised to read of the passing of Forum contributing columnist Calvin Schaible. It was very kind of The Forum to run an article to accompany his obituary. I didn’t know much about him, and I usually disagreed with his views, but I always appreciated the healthy boost he gave my blood pressure, and he was much livelier and less lugubrious than syndicated columnist Cal Thomas.
It is a double shame that his teaching career was cut so short. Judging by his writing and life experiences, I’d bet he would have made an interesting and challenging teacher. I’m sorry I never met Calvin. I would have enjoyed “jousting” with his opinions for years.
