Sad to learn of Schaible’s death

I was sad and surprised to read of the passing of Forum contributing columnist Calvin Schaible. It was very kind of The Forum to run an article to accompany his obituary. I didn’t know much about him, and I usually disagreed with his views, but I always appreciated the healthy boost he gave my blood pressure, and he was much livelier and less lugubrious than syndicated columnist Cal Thomas.

It is a double shame that his teaching career was cut so short. Judging by his writing and life experiences, I’d bet he would have made an interesting and challenging teacher. I’m sorry I never met Calvin. I would have enjoyed “jousting” with his opinions for years.
