Police, FBI seek Fargo bank robbery suspect

FARGO – Police and the FBI are searching for a man suspected of robbing a Bank of the West branch at 3203 32nd Ave. S. on Saturday morning.

The robber walked into the bank around 10:15 a.m. and passed a note to the teller demanding money. Authorities have not disclosed how much money was taken but say no one was hurt.

The suspect, who fled on foot, is described as a 5-foot-10-inch-tall man of Pacific Islander descent. He was wearing a black shirt and leather jacket, with a diamond earring in his left ear. He may be in a gold Chevy Malibu with South Dakota license plates.

Police descended on the area and brought in search dogs shortly after learning of the robbery.

The robbery came two days after Glenwood State Bank in Alexandria, Minn., was robbed at gunpoint Thursday. That suspect, a white male, remains at large as well.

Bank robberies in Minnesota jumped in 2011, with 67 on the year compared to 54 in 2010. Thirteen of those in 2011 took place in December after five in the same month the year before.
