Richland County prosecutor Ron McBeth says a mental evaluation shows 24-year-old Patrick Wolfgram is competent to stand trial.
Wolfgram is accused of stabbing 26-year-old Trista Martin several times in the head, neck and back.
The alleged assault happened last October. Authorities say the two people lived in the same Wahpeton apartment complex.
Wolfgram is being held in the Richland County jail on $500,000 bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled Thursday.
