Sheriff seeks public's help in investigating string of burglaries in rural Clay CountyMOORHEAD – The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to report any suspicious people or vehicles on their property after a recent rash of daytime residential burglaries in rural Clay County.
Sheriff Bill Bergquist said the six burglaries, along with what authorities believe were a few unsuccessful attempts, started just before Thanksgiving.
Most of the burglaries happened within the past two to three weeks, with the most recent one reported on Dec. 23, he said.
The sheriff’s office believes the burglaries are random and that the subjects are checking to see if anyone is home before entering.
People who have seen unknown or suspicious individuals approach their residences are asked to contact the sheriff’s office at (218) 299-5151.
Bergquist said his office is working with neighboring counties dealing with similar burglary reports
