Man falls through lake ice but escapes injuryFERGUS FALLS, Minn. – A man driving a four-wheeler from his ice house on Norway Lake east of here fell through thin ice Sunday but was able to pull himself to safety.
Michael Traen, 45, of Monticello was unable to see the open water because of darkness at the time of the accident, which occurred about 7 a.m., according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office.
Traen was able to pull himself from the water onto the ice and make it back to shore without injury. The open water was located a few hundred yards out on the ice from the public access on the east side of Norway Lake.
