Suspect sought in pepper-spray robbery at Ottertail hotel

OTTERTAIL, Minn. – Otter Tail County authorities are searching for a man who robbed the Thumper Pond Hotel here early this morning after he sprayed an employee in the face with pepper spray.

According to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office:

The incident happened about 4:30 a.m. when a man armed with a wooden handle about 2 feet long jumped over a counter and sprayed a female clerk in the face with pepper spray.

The man then forced the clerk to turn over money from a cash register as well as business safety boxes.

The robber left after putting the clerk in a closet.

The clerk later received first aid from emergency response workers from Henning, Minn.

The suspect was described as 5’10” to 6’ tall, 20-30 years of age and wearing camouflage cargo pants along with a gray/blue hooded sweatshirt.

He was also wearing dark gloves, a ski mask around his nose and mouth and sunglasses with green frames.
