Valley City names native son as new city administrator

VALLEY CITY, N.D. – A Dickinson manufacturing plant manager with extensive experience in the utilities industry has accepted the job of city administrator here.

David Schelkoph, a graduate of Valley City High School, was selected from 29 applicants, said Brenda Klein, deputy city auditor.

Schelkoph will start in the position by Feb. 1.

He served as CEO of Dickinson-based West Plains Electric Cooperative from 2000 to 20008 and is currently working as program manager at Killdeer Mountain Manufacturing in Dickinson, which makes electrical wiring harnesses for commercial and military aircraft.

He also worked as resources manager for Alliant Energy in Mason City, Iowa, from 1989 to 2000, according to his resume.

Schelkoph holds an electrical engineering degree from North Dakota State University. He spent eight years in the Air Force and three years in the Air National Guard.
