Shortly after closing, theater set to reopenDETROIT LAKES, Minn. – After closing Sunday, the Cinema 5 Theater here is set reopen Wednesday in time to show holiday releases.
The theater, which is in Washington Square Mall, closed Sunday after court records showed the owner had racked up more than $28,000 in unpaid bills.
Odyssey Entertainment Inc., a theater chain with facilities in South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa and Ohio, announced Thursday that it acquired the theater and plans to upgrade it over the next year – including new seats, sound systems and digital projectors.
When it reopens, it will still be called Washington Square Cinema 5, but it will also operate under the brand CineMagic, Odyssey president Steve Tripp said.
