Subsidized sugar is the problemIf you happened to turn on talk radio lately, you would be under the assumption that American Crystal Sugar was a behemothic beast crushing the rights of its contract workers. Yes, the American Crystal management is paid exorbitant wages, as any large, profitable business does. This has nothing to do with the fairness of the contract offered.
I invite anyone in the private sector to read the proposed contract and compare it to your employment benefits.
The subsidies that American Crystal receives will end, and they should. The company will need to reevaluate the company’s operations. Buy or don’t buy Crystal sugar, that’s your choice. But ask yourself: Do you agree with your tax dollar subsidizing a product we could buy cheaper imported and the ridiculous demands of union labor?
