Woman accused of stabbing husband in 2003 pleads guilty to simple assaultFARGO – A woman accused of stabbing her husband four times with a kitchen knife in 2003 in Fargo pleaded guilty today to misdemeanor assault in Cass County District Court.
Michelle Denise Williams of East St. Louis, Ill., was sentenced to one year of unsupervised probation. She received credit for 41 days served in jail, and the rest of a 360-day jail term was suspended.
Williams initially was charged with felony aggravated assault for the stabbing on Dec. 14, 2003.
Police said Williams, who was 29 years old at the time, stabbed her husband in the arm, on the base of his neck and twice in the back, stopping only when the blade broke off in the man’s body.
Williams told police she picked up the knife after her husband hit her at least once.
A warrant was issued for Williams’ arrest after she skipped a court hearing in March 2004. She recently was picked up by authorities in St. Clair County, Ill., and taken back to Cass County.
