Wahpeton man charged with attempted murder asks for attorneyWAHPETON, N.D. – A Wahpeton man accused of stabbing his female neighbor multiple times on Friday made his initial appearance this morning in Richland County District Court.
Patrick Wayne Wolfgram, 23, applied for a court-appointed attorney during the hearing, which helped set the schedule for the case. A preliminary hearing will be Nov. 3.
The Class A felony attempted murder charge against Wolfgram accuses him of stabbing 26-year-old Trista Martin several times in the back, neck and head, causing “severe wounds and a large loss of blood.”
Martin was listed in satisfactory condition Monday at Sanford Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The stabbing was reported at 2:58 a.m. in front of Community Homes in the 1600 block of Eighth Street North. Police arrived and found Martin lying in the street with multiple stab wounds.
Wolfgram and Martin both live in the housing complex but didn’t appear to have any kind of relationship, other than being neighbors, prior to the incident, Police Chief Scott Thorsteinson has said.
Wolfgram remains in the Richland County Jail on $500,000 bond.
