Home explosion leaves Sanborn, N.D., man in serious conditionSANBORN, N.D. – A Sanborn man is in serious condition in a Twin Cities hospital with burns he suffered in an explosion at his home Saturday, according to a Barnes County Sheriff’s Office report.
Terry Johnson was attempting to reignite the pilot light on a device that was heating his water heater when the explosion occurred, the report said.
The blast caused major damage to the home and Johnson suffered burns to his face, hands and legs, the report said.
Johnson was first taken to a Fargo hospital and later transferred to the Twin Cities, the report said.
It is believed gas built up inside the home after the pilot light on the heating device went out, the report said.
