NBA's decision means Timberwolves trip to Fargodome is canceledFARGO – The Minnesota Timberwolves won’t be coming to Fargo after all.
The NBA announced Tuesday that it was canceling its preseason schedule after labor talks between the league and the players’ union broke down.
The Timberwolves had announced in August that they would play a preseason game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Oct. 22 at the Fargodome. But even at the time of the announcement, there were concerns that the game may not happen due to the lack of a labor deal in the NBA.
North Dakota had not hosted an NBA preseason game since the Wolves played in Bismarck in 2008. The Wolves had not played in Fargo since recording an 88-82 exhibition win against Milwaukee in 2002.
The Timberwolves have a young nucleus of players, including All-Star power forward Kevin Love, forward Michael Beasley and Spanish point guard Ricky Rubio.
