Lund Boats announces expansion of New York Mills facilityHigh demand cited for Lund, Crestliner brands
NEW YORK MILLS, Minn. – Factory operations at Lund Boats here are about to get a whole lot bigger.
The Brunswick Corp., which owns and operates Lund Boats, recently announced a facility expansion of an additional 22,000 square feet to Lund’s New York Mills manufacturing facility.
“The additional space will help further facilitate the Crestliner manufacturing added recently at the New York Mills plant,” the company said in a press release.
According to the release, demand has been high for both the Crestliner and Lund boat brands.
Crestliner production began at the New York Mills facility last year.
“Company officials point out that the success of the operation is due in part to introducing the right product at the right price,” the release said.
New York Mills Mayor Larry Hodgson said the expansion was definitely good news for the city.
“Any expansion of that magnitude is going to positively affect the city and the community,” Hodgson said. “The possibility of bringing in new jobs and new people is always there.”
According to the release, the project is scheduled to break ground this month, and could be completed by the end of the year.
Hodgson said he hopes the expansion is a sign of things to come for Lunds.
“We hope that with the upswing in the boating industry that we can continue to see further advances in that manufacturing facility,” he said.
Calls to Brunswick Corporation were not returned.
