Officials seek help to find Erskine arson suspectERSKINE, Minn. – The Polk County Sheriff’s Department and the State Fire Marshal Division are looking for the public’s help to identify an arson suspect.
According to a news release, the suspect intentionally started a fire in a vacant house Thursday while the Eldred Grain Elevator was burning.
The fire was started between 7 and 7:40 a.m. on a property owned by Keith Danks at 37210 160th Ave. SE in Erskine.
The property is near the Woodside Township Town Hall, which was also burglarized Thursday morning. It is unknown whether the two crimes are related.
Climax Fire Chief Chad Gunderson said Friday that the grain elevator fire may have been caused by an overheated bearing.
The Minnesota Arson Reward Project is offering up to $2,500 for information leading to the conviction of the house fire suspect.
