WF sees big increase in elementary enrollment

WEST FARGO – Growth for West Fargo public schools remains healthy, as 280 more students showed up for classes for this first day of school, up 3.9 percent from last fall.

West Fargo School District had 7,503 students in prekindergarten through Grade 12 this morning, compared with 7,223 at the end August 2010, the District reported.

The District’s two kindergarten centers and seven elementary schools had a combined enrollment of 3,736 students, or 251 more than last year’s first-day enrollment, the District reported.

Since the 2000-01 school year, the school district has seen tremendous enrollment growth, adding more than 2,400 students for a 47.3 percent increase in enrollment, the District reported.

The middle school has 1,643 students, six fewer than last year at this time. The high school and Sheyenne Ninth Grade Center have 2,046 students, up 33 from last year at this time.
