Homeless sex offender, who registered city-owned river plot as address, finds place to live

FARGO - A high-risk sex offender here is no longer homeless and has registered a new address with Fargo police.

Jesse James Syverson, a 24-year-old Level III sex offender considered a high risk to reoffend, told police he is now living at 1002 28th St. N., Fargo.

Last week, police notified the media that Syverson was unable to find a permanent residence and registered his address as being along the Red River east of Second Street and Third Avenue North, a plot of ground owned by the city. Lt. Joel Vettel said officers were trying to assist Syverson in finding a place to live since few landlords will rent to sex offenders, particularly to those assessed as Level III.

In 2008, Syverson was convicted in Burleigh County District Court of two separate counts of possessing child pornography.

He is required to register for life.
