Committee made AirSho a successAwesome does not adequately describe the members of the Fargo AirSho Committee. This group of 70 dedicated committee members put in over two years of work to produce the 2011 Fargo AirSho.
They were joined by over 400 show-day volunteers to staff the grounds and serve the spectators. This amazing event drew over 25,000 fans and will result in an impact of hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Fargo-Moorhead economy and tens of thousands of dollars to more than 35 local nonprofit organizations.
Compliments are pouring in from all over the country about the quality of the show and the Navy Week and Naval Aviators Luncheon that were part of the production.
Though there were problems with the planning and execution of the show, committee members did a phenomenal job of solving the problems so that they were hardly noticed by the fans. Spectators were treated to one of the best shows in the country. In fact, in 2009, the Blue Angels recognized Fargo as their No. 1 show. We are on track to be in the running to be No. 1 again.
We were blessed with tremendous support from the entire community: the city of Fargo, Cass County, Hector International Airport, the CVB, the Chamber of Commerce, the Fargo Air Museum, the federal aviation team, and a whole batch of businesses that stepped up to the plate to make the show possible. A special thank-you goes to our partners, the North Dakota Air National Guard and Forum Communications, for the priceless role they played in our success.
The entire community owes a big pat on the back to all of these dedicated players who made the Fargo AirSho 2011 a record-setting event.
Schroeder and Walstad are co-chairmen of the Fargo AirSho.
