North Dakota Veterans Home sets grand opening todayLISBON, N.D. – The North Dakota Veterans Home will celebrate its grand opening here today.
The new $36 million facility will be used to house veterans who need continuous nursing care.
There are about 40 beds for skilled care and 120 for basic care, and all the residents from the old location have already moved in.
The facility is located on 80 acres of well-groomed grounds with a view of the Sheyenne River.
A dedication ceremony at 10 a.m. opens with a flyover of a P-51 Mustang fighter plane from World War II.
The original North Dakota Veterans Home has been in operation in Lisbon since 1893. It will be torn down because it doesn’t meet fire codes, but recent additions such as their gazebo will be moved to the new location.
