Former WF superintendent hired to take over Frazee-Vergas postFRAZEE, Minn. – Former West Fargo school superintendent Chuck Cheney was approved today as interim superintendent for the Frazee-Vergas School District.
Frazee-Vergas School Board members voted unanimously to hire Cheney, who will begin Monday, board Vice Chairman Steve Jepson said.
Cheney retired as superintendent of the West Fargo School District in 2006, having served in several capacities during a roughly 40-year career.
He has since served stints as superintendent for the West Central Area School District in Barrett and in Battle Lake.
Jepson said he and other board members are excited to bring Cheney on board.
“His experience with West Fargo and the size of the school he had there … and then also working as an interim prior in two other schools, I’m comfortable with that experience he’s bringing to our school,” Jepson said.
Details of Cheney’s contract weren’t immediately available by phone, but Jepson said Cheney will receive total compensation of roughly $76,000.
The contract runs through June 2012, he said.
