North Dakotan dies in lawnmower crash

BISMARCK – Authorities say the driver of a riding lawnmower ran into the side of a semitrailer while trying to turn the mower around and died at the scene of the crash in southwest North Dakota.

The Bismarck Tribune reports that the name of the 60-year-old driver from Amidon was not immediately released.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the semi driver, 50-year-old Douglas Caron of Scranton, saw the mower being driven onto the road to turn around. Caron hit the brakes and turned the semi into the ditch to try to avoid the mower.

The semi overturned and Caron was taken to the hospital in Bowman for treatment.

The patrol says the driver of the lawnmower crashed into the side of one of Caron’s two trailers.
