Crash near Casselton, N.D., injures fourCASSELTON, N.D. – A mother, her child and two other women were hospitalized after a three-vehicle crash Tuesday night on Highway 18 near here, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
Chief Deputy Jim Thoreson said a Suzuki Aerio compact car driven by Molly Patterson, 21, of Fargo, was eastbound on 37th Street about two miles south of Casselton when it tried to cross State Highway 18 and was struck by a Ford pickup driven by Heath Brandt, 39, of Casselton.
Patterson was cited for failure to yield at a stop sign at the intersection, Thoreson said.
Patterson and her passenger, Dani Spott, 19, also of Fargo, were treated and released at Essentia Health in Fargo, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The pickup had three passengers: Amanda Brandt, 31, and two minor children. Amanda Brandt and one of the children also were taken to a Fargo hospital, Thoreson said. Information on their condition wasn’t immediately available. The Essentia spokeswoman said they weren't seen there, and a Sanford Health spokeswoman said shortly before 10:30 a.m. today that Brandt wasn't a patient there and that she was unable to release any additional information.
The pickup also hit a semi truck that was stopped at the intersection, but the semi’s driver wasn’t injured, Thoreson said.
