Storm knocks out power in Oakes; residents asked to conserve waterOAKES, N.D. – Straight-line winds, hail and heavy rain hit the city of Oakes Sunday, damaging trees, buildings and knocking out power to the entire town.
Several homes were damaged, but no injuries were reported.
City lift stations are running on generators. All residents are asked to conserve water until further notice.
Also, residents are asked not to use generators unless properly approved disconnects are installed.
Please stay off all city streets so that cleanup efforts can continue.
Trees and branches may be deposited in the Cummings Field parking lot and the empty lot behind the Travel Inn Hotel.
City Hall has been temporarily relocated to the Ambulance Hall.
Updates will be released via radio and social media sites until power is restored.
