'Person of interest’ in Okla. double murder arrested in North Dakota

LAKOTA, N.D. – Oklahoma authorities say a person of interest in the deaths of his parents has been arrested in North Dakota.

Le Flore County (Okla.) Sheriff Bruce Curnutt tells the Tulsa World that 50-year-old Kevin Statham was arrested without incident in Lakota, N.D., about 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Curnutt says Statham's parents, 70-year-old Paul Statham and 69-year-old Helen Statham of Bokoshe, died from gunshot wounds.

Curnutt says a neighbor had called authorities Wednesday night after finding Helen Statham's body. Curnutt says he thinks the couple was shot late Monday or early Tuesday.

Curnutt says North Dakota authorities are holding Kevin Statham on a Le Flore County warrant for larceny of an automobile.

Authorities have said Kevin Statham has ties to Fort Smith, Ark. It's unclear if he has an attorney.
