White Earth residents object to oil plant plansWHITE EARTH, N.D. – Some residents in the small North Dakota town of White Earth are objecting to plans for a facility that would process 10,000 barrels of waste oil fluids each day.
CCS Midstream Services wants to build a plant above the White Earth Valley to extract marketable oil from waste oil. The company has a similar plant south of Williston.
Mountrail County zoning officials have tabled the request because they say the application is incomplete. Zoning Administrator Donald Longmuir tells The Bismarck Tribune that one thing officials want to know is how the plant would handle storm water drainage.
Rose Person says White Earth residents are worried about truck traffic and potential groundwater contamination.
The plant also would need state approval.
