Paralyzed victim testifies at sentencing for DWI

ANOKA, Minn. (AP) — A woman who drove drunk and crashed into a car, leaving the driver paralyzed, has been sentenced in Anoka County to one year in jail.

The 32-year-old woman who was paralyzed from the neck down was wheeled into court Thursday to testify at Kristin Kealy's sentencing. Kealy's blood alcohol content was more than three times the legal limit last August when she slammed into Kelli Stein's car in Coon Rapids.

Stein told the judge about all the things she loved, but can no longer do — fly fishing, gardening and painting. Stein says she just lies in a hospital watching TV. She says her life is over, she just exists.

The Star Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/iyxMHE ) Kealy declined to make any statement.
