UPDATED: Small apartment fire damages deck in south FargoFARGO – Firefighters had visions of the large fire that destroyed the Galleria on 42nd apartment building in October when dispatch relayed a call about 3:30 p.m. today of a deck fire that had spread to the interior of a building.
When they arrived on the scene at 2921 34th Ave. S., the fire was already extinguished by the tenant and building manager, said Leroy Skarloken, Fargo assistant fire chief.
“It turned out not to be much,” he said. “It could’ve been bad. We all had visions of the galleria when we left.”
Smoking materials on the balcony caused the blaze, which resulted in about $750 in damage to siding and deck, Skarloken said.
No one was injured and the tenant, who was home at the time of the fire, was allowed to return to the unit, Skarloken said.
