Fargo man receives 15-year prison term for sexual assault in parking ramp
Richard Dwayne Perry of Fargo admitted in a guilty plea in February to grabbing a 30-year-old hospital employee from behind as she walked down a flight of stairs. He choked her and knocked them both to the ground before fondling the woman.
Splitting Perry’s call for six years behind bars and the state’s request for a 25-year stint in prison, Cass County District Court Judge Lisa Fair McEvers ordered him to serve 15 years of a 25-year sentence.
He’ll have 10 years of supervised probation to serve after his release and will be required to register as a sex offender for life.
Had Perry not confessed shortly after his arrest in the Aug. 10 attack, Assistant Cass County State’s Attorney Ryan Younggren said he would have asked for a lifetime sentence on the Class AA felony charge of gross sexual imposition.
