Bismarck sandbagging push planned for SundayAssociated Press
BISMARCK, N.D. - Bismarck officials are hoping to get 1,000 volunteers for a special Sunday effort to fill sandbags for use against the flooding Missouri River.
The Bismarck and Mandan chamber of commerce is organizing the effort. Chamber President Kelvin Hulett calls it the “Sunday Sandbag Throw-Down.”
Hulett says the event will start at noon Sunday at Bismarck's Northern Plains Commerce Centre and end at 6 p.m. Volunteers are asked to bring shovels, gloves and sunscreen.
Hulett says there will be music and food. A Facebook page has been established to advertise the event.
