Reward offered for information in horse, cow killings

COOPERSTOWN, N.D. – A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of whoever killed four horses and three cows near here.

The North Dakota Stockmen’s Association offered the reward after the horses were found shot in the head Thursday.

About two weeks before – and only about a quarter-mile away – three cows were killed in the same manner.

The shootings happened between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., and the unknown shooter was “up close and personal,” firing a small-caliber weapon that was possibly a .22, Griggs County Chief Deputy Terry Gray said last week.

Gray said the two incidents are believed to be related, but no suspects have emerged.

The Stockmen’s Association has also hired its own investigator, Valley News reported Monday.

Anyone with information regarding the incident should call the Griggs County Sheriff’s Office at (701) 797-2202.
