Weekend Watch: Daniel Seddiqui and Red Dragonfly Press readings
Zandbroz Variety, 420 Broadway, Fargo, hosts a pair of very different readings this weekend, both with local ties. Two and a half years ago, Daniel Seddiqui visited all 50 states, working “a stereotypical job” in each. After announcing rodeos in South Dakota, the 26-year-old helped map Fargo’s southside flood-control project at Ulteig Engineering. (He also laid out the remaining 46 states and jobs.) Seddiqui returns to town with a new gig, promoting his book, “50 Jobs in 50 States: One Man’s Journey of Discovery Across America.” The author talks about the project at 6:30 tonight. In 15 years, the small Red Dragonfly Press has made a name for itself outside its Red Wing, Minn., base. Proof is heard Saturday at Zandbroz Variety, when poets read works published by the artisan bookmaker. Writers range from Moorhead’s Thom Tammaro to Iran’s Fereydoun Faryad and friends reciting pieces by the late Fargo poet David Martinson. Both readings start at 6:30 p.m. and are free. (701) 239-4729.
