New Wadena school to be ready in fall of 2012WADENA, Minn. — A new school to replace the one damaged in last June's tornado in Wadena is expected to be ready in the fall of 2012.
The Brainerd Daily Dispatch reports that politicians, students and residents gathered Friday for the groundbreaking of the a $38 million school for grades five through 12 on the same site.
Bricks from the old school, Wadena-Deer Creek High School, were given to about 90 graduating seniors from the Class of 2011.
The new school will serve Bluffton, Deer Creek and Wadena.
A tornado hit Wadena on June 17, destroying more than 260 structures.
