Former Dickinson state Rep. Frank Wald dies

DICKINSON, N.D. – Former North Dakota state Rep. Frank Wald of Dickinson has died. He was 76 and had been suffering from cancer.

Wald died Tuesday at his Dickinson home. A funeral Mass is scheduled at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Dickinson.

Wald served in the North Dakota House for 30 years. He is a former vice chairman of the House Appropriations Committee and served as the House’s speaker during the 1999 Legislature.

Wald didn’t run for re-election last year, but lawmakers said he still followed the Legislature. He lobbied for a Dickinson State University library project that did not win approval.

Wald worked as an insurance agent. He was a native of Logan County in south-central North Dakota.
