North Dakota woman pleads guilty in fatal accident

FARGO — A woman faces up to eight years in federal prison for a fatal traffic accident on the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation.

The U.S. Attorney's office said 19-year-old Carolynn Bigtrack of St. Michael pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter on Friday.

She was accused of driving while under the influence of alcohol. She skidded sideways on a curve and an oncoming vehicle struck her vehicle, killing a front seat passenger in April 2010.

Bigtrack will be sentenced June 30.
