Overland flooding closes at least 60 miles of Cass County roads

FARGO – Drivers are urged to use extreme caution as overland flooding overtakes rural Cass County highways.

At least 60 miles of county roads are closed, with water on an additional 10 miles, Administrator Bonnie Johnson said this morning.

Travel is also impaired on Interstate 29 from Fargo to Argusville, with water near or on the roadway, she said.

Roads can wash out quickly when covered with water, especially with today’s high winds, Johnson said.

Overland flooding on county roads is expected to be an ongoing issue for at least the next week, she said.

“Our advice as it’s always been is, ‘Turn around, don’t drown,’ ” she said.
