Fans to watch Frozen Four at Grand Forks arena

GRAND FORKS — Thousands of University of North Dakota hockey fans who can't make it to the Frozen Four in St. Paul will be watching on the big scoreboard at Ralph Engelstad Arena Thursday night.

Some 2,500 Fighting Sioux fans showed up to watch the regional tournament a couple weeks ago.

Concession manager Jerry Robinson tells WDAZ television that the arena was not expecting that many people, and workers were overwhelmed with the lines for beer and hot dogs.

Top-ranked UND faces second-ranked Michigan at 7:30 p.m.

Media Director Chris Semrau says the arena will dim the house lights, lower the scoreboard and try to create a unique atmosphere.

ESPN is expected to have a live feed from Grand Forks to occasionally show Fighting Sioux fans on the national broadcast.
