North Dakota regulators want info on wind tower accidentBISMARCK — North Dakota's Public Service Commission will be seeking information about a recent wind tower accident north of Rugby.
Last week, a wind tower's turbine box, rotor and three huge blades fell off the steel tower itself and crashed to the ground. Nobody was hurt.
The Public Service Commission approved the project's site plan, and Commissioner Kevin Cramer says the agency has continuing jurisdiction over the project.
He says the commission will discuss its next steps at its regular meeting Thursday.
The project includes 71 wind towers and can generate up to 149 megawatts of electric power. A spokeswoman says the cause of the accident is being investigated by the wind developer and the manufacturer of the turbine box and blades.
