Fargo's Oak Grove names Bobby Bauer as head football coach
The announcement came out today in a statement from the Fargo school.
“Oak Grove has been and continues to be a large part of my life,” Bauer, a 1995 graduate of Oak Grove, said in the news release. “I am truly honored to have the opportunity to be part of the Oak Grove family and its football program again. I am very fortunate to have had great mentors in both my football playing and coaching experience. I hope to take the lessons I have learned from these individuals and apply them to making Oak Grove football a completive, successful, and enjoyable experience for the players. I am very excited and look forward to having opportunity to work with the Oak Grove students.”
Previously, Bauer was a member of the Grover football staff from 2004 to 2009. He has served as Oak Grove’s assistant varsity coach, special teams coordinator, and junior varsity head coach and offensive coordinator.
He played football at Concordia College from 1995-96 and graduated with a bachelor of arts in elementary education from Concordia.
He has taught at the elementary school level at Des Moines Public Schools in De Moines, IA and in Gilbert Public School in Gilbert, IA.
"Coach Bauer values Oak Grove’s mission statement,” Beverly Bjertness, Oak Grove’s middle and high school principal, said in the news release. “He is committed to Oak Grove and its football program. We look forward to his leadership of the Grover football program and his impact on our players.”
Bauer takes over the head coach position from former coach Tony Stauss.
