Kindred man sentenced to time served in standoff caseFARGO – A Kindred, N.D., man pleaded guilty this morning in Cass County District Court to charges stemming from a 12-hour standoff at his home that ended last Oct. 31.
Robert Lee Bodin Jr., who was 39 at the time of the incident, pleaded guilty to one count of assault/domestic violence and one count of preventing arrest.
As part of a sentence recommended by both the defense and prosecutors, he was given credit for 23 days already served, with the balance of a one-year sentence stayed for three years.
Bodin was also ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation and to follow recommendations.
Bodin was accused in court documents of injuring his wife’s hand while trying to take vehicle keys from her.
His attorney, Patrick O’Day, told the court that Bodin suffered a serious injury in a snowmobile accident about 10 years ago and has not been the same since.
O’Day said the incident last fall arose out of a medication issue.
