ND Capitol evacuated briefly because of fire alarmBISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The North Dakota Capitol was evacuated briefly just after 1 p.m. Thursday because of a fire alarm.
Both the North Dakota House and Senate were going into their afternoon floor sessions when the alarm rang. House members were just beginning their daily prayer.
Capitol facilities manager John Boyle says the alarm was triggered on the Capitol's 12th floor when a painter jiggled an alarm box. Boyle says the painter was applying tape around the box. There was no fire.
The evacuation lasted less than 15 minutes.
