Buffalo residents form grocery store task forceBUFFALO, N.D. – Buffalo residents formed a task force on Tuesday to move forward with buying the town’s sole grocery store.
About 75 residents said they would be willing to put up more than $40,000 of the needed $50,000 it will take to keep the store going, Buffalo resident Tammy Erickson said Wednesday.
Erickson spearheaded the movement to save the store after Fred Wrangler, owner of Wrangler Foods, announced he would close the unprofitable store this year.
The task force will consist of six community members and will research a governance format, supplier information and other details, Erickson said.
Progress reports will be sent to residents by e-mail and posted to the city’s website.
Fewer than 200 residents live in Buffalo, which is about 40 miles west of Fargo.
