UPDATE: MN state wrestling: Moorhead's Morlock loses second match of the seasonMoorhead's Chase Morlock suffered his second loss of the season ending the area's chances of capturing a Class 3A title.
He stayed even in his match until Henry Sibley's Tyrell Martin got a point in the last minute for the 3-2 decision in the second round of the 160-pound class. Morlock, now 41-2, opened the tournament with a 0:38 second pin.
His Moorhead teammate Joe Carpenter also suffered a second-round loss.
As for Class 2A, Fergus Falls' Abbot Aho is the area's wrestler that has a chance at winning state.
Aho got a pin in his second round match-up and with one more win can make the finals in the 112-pound weight class. Aho, now 39-4, will have his section mates cheering for him.
"Now that it's him, we're all cheering for him," said Perham's Jesse Hein. "Off the mat, we all get along and he's a guy from our section and we have to cheer for him."
Class A finished earlier in the evening.
Last year's Class A 160-pound runner up Stephan Erlandson won his second match getting him closer to another finals appearance.
Erlandson used a technical fall to advance. His brother, Greg, suffered a second-round loss. Erlandson will be joined in the third round tomorrow by New York Mills' Shane Novak (112 pounds), Frazee trio Tanner Ellenberg (125),Bruce Lemon (130) and Kody Sorenson (189) along with DGF's Shawn Johnson (171).
