1 killed, 1 injured in I-94 rolloverOne woman is dead and a man injured after a rollover on Interstate 94 near Mapleton, N.D., on Wednesday.
The one-vehicle accident occurred about 3:20 p.m., said North Dakota Highway Patrol Lt. Eldon Mehrer. A man and a woman were eastbound on Interstate 94, near mile marker 340, when the vehicle lost control on the slippery roads and rolled.
The driver, a 33-year-old woman from West Fargo, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger, a 35-year-old man, also from West Fargo, was taken by ambulance to Essentia Health in Fargo.
The identities of the victims have not been released.
There was a separate two-vehicle crash between a pickup and passenger car at the same scene. The pickup driver stopped along the shoulder to provide assistance when he was rear-ended by a passenger vehicle. No one was injured in that crash, the Highway Patrol said.
Mehrer said the roads were becoming hazardous because wind caused the loose snow to blow across the roads.
“People need to be very careful and pay attention to the changing road conditions,” Mehrer said.
